Over the dunes
There is much to be learned from every part of our unique ecosystem.

Raptors
With the many species of indigenous and migratory raptors around St Lucia, it is helpful to have a qualified guide to help discern which is which.

Boardwalk trailhead
On the beach, where the boardwalk trail starts to run alongside the estuary. Plenty to see and learn about.

Mangrove kingfisher
The mangrove kingfisher is about 22 cm (8.7 in) long. The male and female are alike. The head is dark grey-brown, with black lores and a narrow white line above the eye, and the cheeks and sides of the neck are brown-grey. The grey breast and flanks are vermiculated (having dense, irregular lines).

Common duck
Sometimes covered in beautiful plumage, ducks of several types are around to be seen on a walk.

Bush and vlei fowls
Walking affords the opportunity to view bush and vlei birds in their natural environment, which you would probably miss if you were in a vehicle.

White-fronted bee-eater
The white-fronted bee-eater is a species of bee-eater widely distributed in sub-equatorial Africa. They have a distinctive white forehead, a square tail and a bright red patch on their throat. They nest in small colonies, digging holes in cliffs or earthen banks.
